Grammy Awards 2012

The 54th Annual Grammy Awards took place Sunday night in LA, and the red carpet did not disappoint. The Grammy's is always my favourite awards show to look forward to. It's an exciting event full of great performances, and amazing red carpet dresses. Here are some of the best looks from the night:

Rihanna brought some serious sex appeal to the Grammy's red carpet in this black Giorgio Armani gown with plunging neckline. She finished off her look with a gorgeous gold Jimmy Choo clutch and Christian Louboutin shoes. I'm on the fence about her new blonde hair though, I think she should go back to her natural colour.

Tayor Swift was one of my favourite looks from the night. She chose this gold beaded Zuhair Murad mermaid gown for the big night, and in my opinion, she looked absolutely beautiful. The dress reminds me of something antique, and very fragile, with so much detailing. Also, I love the open back, and the design of it, it's so unique looking. This dress is a work of art, it's absolutely gorgeous.

Adele, one of the night's big winners, looked beautiful on the red carpet in this black sequin gown by Giorgio Armani. The dress looks great on her, and she looks so happy wearing it. Adele performed her hit song 'Rolling in the Deep' at the show, and totally killed it!

Carrie Underwood was another one of my favourites form Sunday night. She chose this amazing white beaded Rene Caovilla gown. I love the colour, the train, and the open back. I also like that she chose simple hair, and minimal accessories to finish off her look.

I went back and forth with Kelly Rowland's beige Alberta Ferretti gown. In the end, I really like it. It's different, I love the colour, and the embroidery around the bodice is so beautiful. I think she looks great.

I have no idea where Paris Hilton has been lately, or why she was at the Grammy's, but she did look amazing on the red carpet. She chose this Basil Soda gown for the evening, and in my opinion, it's the best I've seen her look. I love how this dress flows, and the tiny gold belt around her waist.

And now for some of the bad...

Nicki Minaj looked like an absolute joke at the awards in this Atelier Versace monstrosity. I'm not sure what she's trying to do with this big red thing. Is it a cape? Is it a parachute? No one will ever know. What I do know: She needs to stop trying so hard. And showing up with a random man dressed as the pope? Really Nicki?

There was some contriversy over Fergie's Jean Paul Gaultier gown, some loved it, and others hated it. I'm with the haters on his one, I don't think underwear should ever be seen at the Grammy Awards. Sorry Fergie.

American Music Awards

The 2011 American Music Awards took place Sunday night at L.A.'s Nokia Theatre. The audience saw performances by; Taio Cruz, Nicki Minaj, Justin Bieber, Chris Brown, Jennifer Lopez, Katy Perry and more.

The oddest part of the evening was definitely Jennifer Lopez. She drove up on stage in a Fiat 500, which she is currently the poster girl for. Talk about a product placement!

Of course, stars on the red carpet didn't disappoint. I've put together a collection of my favourite looks, and some of my not-so-favourite looks from this year's American Music Awards:

Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber stole the spotlight on this year's red carpet!

Hollywood's 'it' couple arrived on the red carpet in a vintage Rolls Royce. She looked so glamourous in a low-cut champagne coloured Giorgio Armani gown with thigh-high slit. Justin looked like the perfect gentlemen in his nicely fitted tuxedo. Of course, he added a little personality by pairing his tux with shinny black hightop shoes.

I couldn't resist adding this picture, he's such a gentlemen helping her with her train!

Selena's best friend, Taylor Swift, was the big winner Sunday night. She looked absolutely incredible arriving in a floorlength golden gown by Reem Acra. The strapless gold sequinned dress is from the designers spring/summer 2012 collection. My favourite part is the gathering at the back of the shirt, and I also love that she added a pop of colour with emerald earrings. Simple strait hair was a nice change from her usual curls.

Quirky as always, Katy Perry wore a Japanese inspired Vivienne Westwood dress with structured origami detailing. This is such a Katy dress, and I think she looks cute, but I've had enough of her ugly pink hair.

Jennifer Hudson showed off her new figure in a metallic mini dress from Jenny Packham's Autumn/Winter 2011 collection. For me, the skirt is a little short, but who wouldn't want to show off those legs?
P.S. Love the sparkly Christian Louboutins!

The queen of the red carpet, Heidi Klum, wore an intricate Giles silver cut out dress. She looks cute, and the dress is definitely different, but I have to say, Heidi could do better.
