Happy St. Patrick's Day

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone! In celebration of this year's Irish holiday, I've decided to compile a small collection of my favourite green red carpet dresses. Enjoy!

I just mentioned this look a couple weeks ago, and I still love it. Florence Welch wore this amazing deep green Givenchy gown to this year's Grammy Awards. The dress was custom made for the Florence and the Machine singer, as was her matching heals and clutch. This dress is so odd and different that it makes me love it.

Angelina wore this beauty to the 2011 Golden Globes. The long sleeved emerald green Atelier Versace gown was encrusted with Swarovski crystals. Amazing.

Going back to the 2007 Oscars, Isla Fisher looked beautiful in this Monique Lhullier gown. There's just something about it her hair colour that compliments the emerald dress so well.

SAG 2013

The 2013 Screen Actors Guild awards took place a couple nights ago, and some of my favourites looked amazing. Two leading ladies in particular stood out to me:

Les Miserables actress Amanda Seyfried looked great in a fitted mermaid Zac Posen gown. I love this navy colour on her, it offsets her golden locks beautifully. Topping it all off with Lorraine Swartz jewelry gave it an extra touch of glamour.

Jennifer Garner is usually on my best dressed radar. She always looks great, and to me, is the epitome of class. Last night was no exception, she looked amazing in this lace and sequin embroidered gown from Oscar de la Renta's Pre-Fall 2012 collection. Finishing off her red carpet look with Brian Atwood shoes and David Webb jewels, Jennifer confirms her place on best dressed lists everywhere.

Golden Globes 2013

It's official, awards season has started! It's my favourite time of year, I go crazy over the beautiful gowns, dapper men, and of course, the winners.

The first awards show that I love watching is the Golden Globes every January. They took place this past Saturday night, and as always, the red carpet did not disappoint. Here's a breakdown of some of my favourites:

This girl is always one of my favourites, ladies and gentlemen, the beautiful Jessica Alba. Jessica wore a melon coloured silk Oscar de la Renta gown that fits her like a glove. She added a touch of glamour with Harry Winston jewels, and a Roger Vivier clutch. I've seen mixed reviews on her clutch, but I think it works with her look, it adds an interesting touch to her look. And to top it all off, she keeps her hair simple and romantic, and is wearing a great lipstick to match her clutch.

Overall I think she looks amazing, this is definitely one of my favourite looks I've seen on Jessica.

Taylor Swift (who recently split from beau Harry Styles) donned a gorgeous eggplant Donna Karan Atelier gown in a mermaid cut. She looks amazing. the colour is great on her, I love how the cut fits her statuesque frame, and the open back? Wow. Harry Styles, eat your heart out!

Emily Blunt stunned in a yellow-gold Michael Kors dress. Taking full advantage of the cut-out trend, she pulls off this fitted sheath with class. I love the way this looks on her, and the colour is great. You can tell she went a little out of her comfort zone with this one, and I love that.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year everyone! I can't believe it's 2013 already, but this year is sure to be an amazing one. It will be the year I graduate from CreComm at Red River College (woohoo!), it will be the year I officially hit my mid 20's (ugh!), and most importantly it will be a year of amazing fashion.

I'm personally hoping to see some of my favourites on the red carpets this year; Anne Hathaway, Stacy Keibler, Emma Stone, Rihanna, Emma Watson. Oh I'm getting so excited just thinking about it!

Of course, I'm terrified for some stars to appear on the red carpet (cough.. cough.. Nicki Minaj)

Of course awards season is fast approaching us, my two favourites - The Oscars and Grammys, are only a few weeks away.

So stay tuned and get excited, it's going to be a great 2013!

Pinterest Addiction

This year has been busy busy busy. It's my final year of college, and instructors are not holding back on preparing us for the 'real world'. It's only October and I've already pulled several all-nighters, and have shed many tears trying to finish projects on time.

That being said, the reason I have had to pull the all-nighters and cry my worries away is because I am an A+ procrastinator.

Lately, my number one procrastination tool has been listening to music, and trolling Pinterest. For those who don't know what Pinterest is, shame on you! Just kidding. Pinterest is great though, and you should join it.

Here's the breakdown:

Pinterest is an online 'pinboard', where users 'pin' things they like in dozens of categories. These could be items that are pretty, things they want, useful hints, interesting information, and basically anything that is cool or exciting. There are a wide range of categories too, like fashion, gardening, geek, DIY, home decor, and even weddings.

You can also follow your friends on Pinterest. That way you can see pins that would likely interest you most.

Once you start 'Pinning', you won't be able to stop. If you see something you like, click 'Repin' and you'll be able to pin it to one of your own boards that you've made. That way you can go back and look at it any time you want.

I have a few categories that I commonly look at to keep me busy.

I love looking at 'Women's Fashion' for a little style inspiration. There are tons of great ideas for putting outfits together, and even some hints for budget shopping - great for a student like me. If you're really brave, you can try some of the sewing and DIY ideas on there too. Guys, there's a 'Men's Fashion' category too, I like to peruse this section for gift ideas for my man.

Another couple favourites are 'Home Decor' and 'DIY'. I don't have my own place now, but since I'll be graduating soon, moving out of my mom's house is definitely on my mind. There are so many good decorating ideas in these sections. Some ideas are definitely out of reach for me, but hey, a girl can dream about that floor-to-ceiling temperature-controlled wine rack right? Coming down to a more realistic level, I found a great DIY wine rack that I can make for just ten bucks.

Another favourite of mine is 'Weddings'. No, I'm not engaged, or even close to getting married, but again, a girl can dream. The pictures in this category are beautiful, and it goes along with my obsession of watching 'Say Yes To The Dress' on TLC on Saturday nights.

I know women who have young kids that love Pinterest for the 'Kids' and 'Education' categories. There are loads of crafts to do with your little ones, and ideas for teaching.

If I still haven't convinced you that Pinterest is the greatest invention, check it out for yourself and take a look around. I promise, you will not be disappointed.

Also, follow me on Pinterest, I have Pin cool stuff! Promise.

2012 VMAs

The 2012 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) took place tonight in LA, and there were two women that really caught my eye. One looked absolutely beautiful, the other, um, not so much:

My favourite look of the night was Rihanna, hands down. I think she looks amazing in this white backless gown, and freshly chopped hair (ala Halle Berry). She looks so glamerous, and confident. Love this look, and love Rihanna.

And now, for someone we can always count on to look uterly rediculous. Nicki Minaj. In what world does a lace-sequin-skintight-red piped body suit and police hat look good? Never.

Another Year...

It's been quite a while since I blogged, almost 6 months actually, that's disgraceful. But it's the beginning of a new school year, which means no more neglecting my blog. There's going to be lots going on this fall and winter season!

I'd like to share another blog with you today. My very good friend Lauren Best has created a new blog called Stratamode. This blog is amazing! Beautiful photos, fun fashion, fearless style, what more could you want?

Lauren started Stratamode this past summer in Sweden, and worked her way through a few other countries in Europe before coming home to Winnipeg, Canada. It's amazing how different styles are from one country to the next.
